W09 Reflection

This week’s study on disciple leadership was honestly super eye-opening for me. I’ve always thought of leadership as being the person in charge or the one who makes all the decisions, but this week made me realize it’s way more about who you are than what position you hold. A disciple-leader is someone people actually want to follow because of their character, not their title, and that really stuck with me. One thing I liked was the idea that real capability comes from being willing to keep learning and improving, not from being the smartest or most educated person in the room. That actually makes leadership feel a lot less intimidating. I don’t have to be perfect to lead I just have to be someone who’s trying to grow.

Another takeaway for me was about choosing the right people to work with. The whole “get the right people on the bus” thing hit harder this week. If I ever start my own business, I want to be surrounded by people who are honest, hardworking, and genuinely want to build something good. It’s crazy how much easier everything becomes when you’re around people who actually share your values. The bakers vs. eaters analogy also made a lot of sense. Bakers try to create more opportunities and make the pie bigger for everyone instead of seeing everything as a competition. That’s the kind of entrepreneur I want to be. I want to build something that helps people, not something that’s just about me.

Overall, this week made me think a lot about the kind of leader I want to become someone who lifts people, leads by example, and tries to do things the right way. I’m actually excited to learn more about how to build those qualities now so I’m ready when I finally start my own business.
